Register for the Youth Assembly 2018

Applications for the Youth Assembly will only be considered if accompanied by a letter of recommendation from the MUN-Director (via email).

We ask all students interested in participating in the BERMUN Youth Assembly to complete the following application. Applications will be evaluated based on demonstrated background knowledge of the topic and motivation to take concrete action.

Please answer the following questions in regard to the theme of

Strengthening Engagement in Civil Society through Continuous Cooperation and Grassroot Activism

* Letter of Motivation (100-200 words)

A. Briefly outline your previous involvement in your community (i.e. class representative, community service etc.).
B. Why are you interested in applying to the Youth Assembly?
C. Briefly list your previous MUN experience in the order of conference, committee, position, year.
D. How and what will you specifically be able to contribute to the discussion on this year's YA theme?
E. We would like to have students return for successive years to the YA in order to ensure the success of initiatives and as a follow up. Will this be possible for you? Please explain.



* Application Statement (200-400 words): Describe the opportunities for civil engagement in your community, i.e. school, neighborhood etc.

The following questions may help you.

A. What are some opportunities in your community to be involved in and/or find a platform for socially and politically opinionated people to voice their affairs?
B. What are the main obstacles preventing students from becoming involved in their community? How could these be overcome?
C. Briefly outline your ideas for creating and implementing a realistic local project. [Note: this project could be the improvement/addition to an existing initiative or institution or the creation of something new]

Your online application and personal statement will only be considered for the BERMUN 2018 conference, if your director submits a letter of recommendation containing relevant information about your academic discourse and interest and/or involvement in civic society to the following email address: youthassembly@gmail.com.

Please ask your director to include your name and the name of your school in the subject line of the email.
